    don

You can test the tanks you breathe or - dive on hope.
    Testing is safer...

Great news for vacation divers who cannot talk themselves into buying a personal CO tank tester!

    >> Rent one for a week or longer here <<
Now let's see more CO readings in your trip reports, ok...??

Roatan. Try Coconut Tree Divers in the West End they have a $5/nt. dorm if you're taking courses with them. They have a course calculator on their website so you'll have a good idea of what it will cost you also. Good group of fun people also. Will Wellbourn, their Course Director, posts on SB often. http://www.goprocaribbean.com/home/index.php

The West End is where you want to be anyway post-dive. Lots of restaurants, bars and other diversions. Nice beaches also. Food ranges from really cheap to very expensive. And you don't need a car to get around. Cabs to town or the airport are cheap and if you goof up, Anthony's Key has a chamber 10mins. away.

Utila's another option, there's a lot of dive training programs there. It's cheap living in the dorms in town also but it's a lot smaller and more remote. Really similar diving off both islands, I liked the shallows better off Utila but deeper we probably saw more stuff off Roatan - of course there's the Whalesharks off Utila but you don't dive with them just snorkel. You can go between the islands twice daily via ferry thru La Ceiba on the mainland. Having been to both recently I'd pick Roatan.

Cayman's are so pricey you might starve before completing the IDC...lol. Virgin Islands might be another option, but the BVI's were kind of pricey when it comes to living expenses. St. Thomas might be more reasonable, we only spent a couple days there.
