    Hey From NYC

I have never been diving or even got my certification but I am looking to and came here to ask some questions. I won a trip to Fiji next month where scuba diving is included but I don't yet know how. Hopefully by the time it comes around I will however and it should be an amazing experience!

Are there any main threads or stickies I should read?

Hi! Wow, that's an awesome thing to win! You can get certified before you go...that's totally possible! I personally would read a ton of threads, but I like soaking up all the info I can. If I were the person to win this trip I wouldn't want to pass up on the diving that is included!!!

    Good luck to you!

I am trying my hardest to figure it all out on time but I was given such short notice that it is becoming quite the task! And the amount of threads here is a bit overwhelming. Thanks for the welcome!

I wouldn't worry about any threads then...I'd just call the local dive shop and get certified...you'll have plenty of time to absorb all of this info later

Congrats on winning the Fiji trip.

Where are you in NYC? Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx or Staten Island? Best to find a dive shop near your home or your office.

You can do the classroom knowledge and the pool work in NYC and do all your checkout dives (referral dives) in Fiji if you prefer. I did all my classroom knowledge and pool work in Manhattan and did my check out dives in Bora Bora.

Good luck. You can PM me with questions if you prefer.

In Manhattan, I think I found a workshop but I am still searching. And I believe I am going to do exactly the same as you, finish my academic and pool sessions here and then do the checkout dives in Fiji. Can't wait!
