so this will tell you I'm new to ScubaBoard.
and still feel new to the diving world.
I'm a new dive master. and need to start thinking of my own gear.
what should I get first ? and why? and what brands?
I enjoy reading all the other post and have commented on a few.

Welcome to Scuba Board and congrats on becomming a DM. Make sure you stop by the 'local' forum Rocky Mountain Oysters . While there's not as many of us west side of the rockies posters as there are from the eastern side, it is still a nice place.

About gear. If you are an activley working DM for a store, you may want to have a talk with them. Many have a policy that they want you in the brand(s) they sell while working and may offer some type of discount. That may influence your buying decisions.
