ALASKA!
Hi there all,

I'll be new to diving when I get my OW cert on Maui this month. Woo hoo!

So, where might I post to find out which schools I should look at on the island? I'm leaning towards a NAUI cert.

Thanks!

There are a good selection of quality instructors on Maui. I would recommend going PADI though. Not sure anyone on Maui teaches NAUI.

Welcome aboard, and be sure to check the different threads in here, as you will find almost every answer that you may be looking for. Of course you might find answers you AREN'T looking for, and off the wall topics that will drag you in, but have fun, dive safe, and welcome to our addiction!

It appears that there are no NAUI shops on Maui. NAUI Dive Center Locator Results

Here's a list of NAUI Instructors but they all appear to be on Oahu:

The only SSI shop on Maui is http://www.mauidiveshop.com/

Look thru recent posts here: http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/hawaii/ for PADI recommended operations. The decision should be somewhat based on where you're staying as it's about a 45min. drive between West Maui and South Maui so for classes I'd pick someone nearby.

It's also the instructor not the shop so maybe you could call/e-mail a few before you go.

Welcome to SCUBAboard!

I wouldn't get hung-up on the cert. agency, the training facility and the instructor is most important.

There are many good choices. Give Extended Horizons a look www.extendedhorizons.com/about.html
