hi everyone. i've been on the board a few days and thought i'd drop in and introduce myself. the wife and i completed our PADI training in march, and went on our honeymoon for 2.5 weeks in hawaii in early april 2013. we spent most of the time diving in oahu, maui and big island. we live in northern VA, and completed our training with vascuba.com. if anyone in the area wants to get together for a dive to millbrook or rawlings, or even further out, let me know!
here are some pics we took while in hawaii. this my first time with my gopro hero3 underwater. all the pics below are screenshot captures.
first dive in open waters in oahu with rainbow scuba. they took us down to 105 feet to the sea tiger shipwreck just a few minutes boat ride off oahu:
octopus at the sea tiger:
huge turtle taking a nap on the sea tiger deck:
snorkeling in hanauma bay, we loved the turtles:
saw quite a few white tipped reef sharks in maui, the "puppies of the shark world" as one of the divemasters called them:
dove 3 days (6 dives) with lahaina divers in maui. most of their tanks leaked air, and on this particular dive my and another lady's tank actually came off mid-dive. their equipment was actually very good, they just did a ****ty job of set up:
i think this is at mala pier in maui. the high 70 water temps of hawaii was like a hot bath compared to rawling's 40's, so no wetsuit for me:
the wife and i, getting photobombed by a turtle. we didn't see the turtle behind us at the time, not until we watched the video back at the hotel:
twlight manta ray dive in big island, on the first dive we had spinner dolphins come and play with us:
twilight manta ray dive in big island. first day we didn't see any rays, so the dive shop gave us 50% off the next dive. saw two rays the next dive:

here are some short clips i quickly threw together. first is our very first dive in hawaii in april, second video is our very last day of diving.
this one isn't very exciting or even interesting, but it's our very first open water dive so i like it

manta ray dive in kona, only two rays but it was an awesome sight. looks like there are plenty of manta videos out there, but this one is mine.
