WELCOME to ScubaBoard!!!!
I hope to see your contributions as I bumble about the board in a daze cause by a lack of water.
Does your 14 year old daughter dive, do your other two children?

Tom

Welcome to ScubaBoard! :happywave

"Up here", "down there"... it's all "down under" from where I sit. :D

Dive safe!

Christian

P.S. Due to the high volume of new posts in the Introductions and Greets forum, it's not always possible to keep up with all the new posts here. So, please help me out and send me a PM if you post anything you want me to read or respond to in this forum.

It's really gooe to feel so welcome here, with all the replies.

Thanks everyone.

Laurens, my husband ( Johannes or John ) is Dutch.
He and his family migrated to Australia when he was 6 years old.

Whereabouts do you go diving over there?

John wants to go back to Holland for a white Christmas one year.
He still has some cousins there, that he knows.

Thanks for your directions Don. I've a feeling I'm going to
enjoy myself here!!

Tom, I see you read my Profile!

It's a long story about my 14 yr old daughter.

I"ll keep it short:)

Jessica ( my 14 yr old ) learnt to dive the same time
as my hubby and I. She was only 12 at the time and got her
Junior Open Water. Jessica learnt much faster than us,
and was much more confident in the pool. She'd been swimming
since she was a baby and loved being able to float round
at the bottom without having to come up for air all the time.

I published a short article about our experience
when we first learnt to dive. It's good for a laugh!!

Then, we went off to the Open sea, and she didn't like it much.
Claimed she didn't like the taste of the sea water.

Eventually, she got her certificate though, and seemed to like it.

Then, a few subsequent events seemed to put her off.
I think it was mostly because my husband and I were not really confident.

John and I are confident now, and hoping Jessica will change her mind
one day. She came and watched us dive from the shore the other day,
so that's a start.

We may take her with us on a Live Aboard, and see what happens.
Surely, she'll get caught up in the atmospher, and want to go
and see everything!!!

Do you have children who dive Tom?

Good to see a fellow Aussie here, too.

I've heard the diving is GREAT over in WA, and have read some articles in
DIVE LOG Australia!!

Thanks again for the warm welcome everyone!!
