Brit diver calling for the first time. Hi everyone I'm a rookie at this so if I get the lingo wrong, laugh and put me right! I've been diving for 2 years and just notched up my 100th. Qualified my AOW on my 50th birthday, so there's life in the old dog yet.
Got the bends in Sharm el Sheik 18 months ago and was left for 4 days on my own, boo hoo!, pool-side, boo hoo!, with a beer or two, boo hoo! in the sunshine, boo hoo! and all I could do was some snorkelling, (Oops sorry, no swearing on this site).
Turns out I got a PFO and they tried to close it last week, but there were complications, so it hasn't been done and now I'm on anti-coagulants with a bigger op coming up later in the year. I was actually looking for info on diving on Warfarin when I found you lot, so I got waylaid in my search for future diving prospects.

Apart from Egypt, I've dived in the Philippines, going to Indonesia in August(on limited diving, if at all now) and as I live in Gosport near to Portsmouth in England, I get plenty of diving in the Solent and in general on the South coast, plenty of wrecks of course. apparently it was divers like us, that found the Mary Rose you know!

Now I may be wrong, but I think there's somewhere else around here that takes your details. In case I get lost, I'm a Primary teacher with 7 grandchildren (latest is 2 weeks old, aaah!) and 16 cats, hence the name. The grandchildren know me as 'Cat Nanny.'

Here's hoping I find my way back.......

Welcome to the board. The Dive Medicine forum here will be most helpful. So will DAN and their information.

Good luck to you and good diving.

cat nanny, welcome aboard. hope you can get back in the water soon!

my wife and i have seven cats, rank amateurs (us, not the cats) compared
to you :eyebrow:

Cat Nanny,

Welcome to the Scuba Board! As Melvin pointed out, our Dive Medicine forum will have a lot of information for you. His suggestion that DAN at Duke University will have a lot of helpful information is also a good one!

Welcome aboard, and upload a picture of your herd of kitties for us!

Welcome young lady! The others have already mentioned the medical stuff so I will only wish you well with that and hope you can get back in the water sometime soon. Good luck with your next op!

As far as personal information goes, you can stick what you want to divulge of that in your profile - look under the Quick Links tab at the top and choose> Edit Profile.

Primary school eh? I also have the dubious pleasure of teaching around 600 Japanese kids English. Still, when I'm diving I manage to completely put them out of my mind! :eyebrow:

Welcome to the board!

Tom Winters:
16 cats? I bet there's days where you wear the dive gear in the house.
I've had my moments when I've introduced new kittens, but I mainly take in the Oldies. They're all being good at the moment and as the sun is shining, although it is still cold, they are using the cat flap. I do love 'em though, so even if I do have to pick up the cr.. They are still worth it to me.

Pictures by the dozen of the herd, but exam papers have just arrived for me to start marking, besides what may seem a simple task to you, would probably take me all day to work out how to do it. I'm having enough trouble trying to permanently clear the porn that my darling 24 year old son managed to get into my new computer, after he promised faithfully that he wouldn't!!! It's very off putting when I'm trying to get school planning done to have it pop up, as it were. There is no way I can let any of my pupils anywhere near either. I'm no prude, but it is not appropriate in my profession. Kids, no matter how old they get they never listen to their parents!!!
