Itching for a night dive

I booked my dives a couple weeks back, but that was at least a month too late to book the Friday night dive - filled up fast!

I'm hoping that eventually another night dive opportunity arrives - or perhaps a few of us would like to charter a dive Sunday night or Monday night because I will be bringing my 24W HID light with a UV blacklight filter for a psychadelic coral / critter light show like the photo below:

But for those going on Friday, I might be able to let someone borrow the light. Bottom line - the pictures don't do this effect justice. The UV output of a 24 watt HID really makes the coral literally glow brighter and wilder than one can imagine - you have to see this to believe it. Most corals fluoresce bright green on live polyps, but some glow orange and yellow, while some glow multi colored. Bristleworms glow yellow, and clown wrasse shows deep red dorsal lines where white light shows no hint of these markings.

Can't wait to get there anyway - we'll be staying extra days at a friends place the week of the 14th too.

Blaze,

Have no fear, a second dive for Friday night will open soon and I think this one will be a reef location.

If you have facts, share them. Otherwise let's get back to rumor, speculation, and misinformation, the foundation upon which the internet was built. And if you want to experience Florida diving like the locals, get your info from the locals. Remember, yokes are for strokes

Hey all! I'm definitely interested in doing this.. I would probably drive down Friday night though.. dive all day Saturday, Sunday AM.. then leave Sunday afternoon. I'm a teacher and HOPEFULLY am teaching summer school. Anyone need a roommate? Also, anyone from the Jax area, maybe we could carpool?

Welcome back! As a matter of fact, there is a thread about Californians coming to ITK here. You would not be alone...
