Another Dive Knife Question, but not for dive use

Gday guys, looks like i've hit the jackpot here, a forum with a sub forum devoted purely to knives

Im chasing a knife, funnily enough, yet im not a diver. Im a jetski driver for the wesfarmers emergency response team that we have in WA, basically if some one goes missing etc and its in white water, especially around margret river, gracetown surf areas etc the water police call us out to go looking for them. We go out in surf conditions around 6ft and larger, in 20+ knot winds. As its white water we punch through waves constantly

What im chasing from the knife is the holder it uses, the strength of the holder, both latching the knife in, and how it attaches to a dive belt, must have rope/line cutting ability, be able to slice through clothing, resist rusting. Can either be folding or full size, still un decided about sharp or blunt tip

There is the high possability i'll lose it on a call out so would prefer it to be sub $100

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, cheers

    Check out the Spyderco line....

lots of choices, the H1 steel is pretty much rustproof, holds an edge, and less than $100

I've just received a Spyderco Jumpmaster, which fulfills all your requirements except price...mine was about $180. It has a great, very secure sheath. I suspect any of the Spyderco H-1 steel knives would do everything you wanted it to do...there are a variety of folders that you can find in the $60-100 range. Have a look at this one...

    SPYDERCO 89SYL ATLANTIC SALT

Spyderco's Rescue knives are long favored by seafarers and the design has since been embraced by rescue workers, EMT's and ranchers-anyone cutting around flesh in an emergency. Now available in a rustproof version, the Atlantic Salt is a modified Rescue made with state of the art non-rusting H1 steel...

The hollow-ground blade is available PlainEdged or SpyderEdged with both configurations offering remarkable cutting performance in and around fresh and saltwater....

It is recommended threading a thong or lanyard cord through the lanyard hole for back-up retention around water, where once dropped, a knife is often irretrievable or lost.

I did notice the above listed knife, seems like a pretty sweet deal, just to find a local supplier to physically see it and have a feel for it, cheers

Yes, I just found one on a dive about a month ago. Had to clean the plastic handle more than I did the H1 steel. Looked like it had been there maybe a month at least to get the growth on the handle - no worries about the blade still razor sharp.

How did the clip look? Not so sure the clip is H1. I just bought a Saver Salt and was wondering about the black clip.

Thought I would follow up on this thread, found one in an army disposal store for $25, made in china but seems ok. Blunt tip, serrated edge, line cutter and window breaker tip, shall see how it goes
