hi

i have noticed alot of post about this lake
is there any place i could get some good info on it
like what there is to perhaps see and depths and vis
i see yall say it closes after oct. but maybe i can get my buds
to lets take a trip to it after the first of the year

The bottom of Lanier (at least were I've dove) is very silty. A couple of stray kicks causes a complete silt out!
I've personally been no deeper than 65 or 70 feet in Lanier but it was very cold at that depth. You would need a 7mil at least. There is a "forest" down below 40 or 50 feet (others on the board will know for sure). In the winter vis can be as good as 20+ feet although this is exceptional in Lanier. I usually expect about 10 - 15 feet during winter months. The lake is a major recreational use lake so during the summer the vis really decreases to maybe 5 to 7 feet.

The lake doesn't close! I think you were refering to this thread. It's last call for an October dive this year. We dive year round at Lanier, usually of of West Bank Park.
