Hi All,

I'm planning a diving vacation in the Jupiter area of Florida and am looking for recommendations regarding dive operators and accommodation in the area. I plan to be there for the first two weeks of November and would like, if possible, to rent an apartment, has anyone got any experience of the area.

Also does anyone have experience of the dive conditions at that time of year, water temp, visibility etc.?

Thanks,
Nivek

Jupiter Dive Center or Scuba Works are two I've heard good things about - no personal experience with either.

Look on Homeaway.com or vrbo.com for rentals. What you're probably looking for is what is called a vacation condo rental in the U.S. They'll tend to be near the beach, golf course, other attractions. November is the early part of the high season so you should be able to still find good deals - once it gets cold in the NE or the kids are out of school prices increase - peaking near Thanksgiving/Christmas. In some popular areas there are hundreds of condo complexes that often have on-site management for the rental business even though they're individually owned as rental properties.

Another option, mostly dependent on location, is an extended stay suite hotel, they're more corporate focused but offer kitchens, livingroom/bedroom with maid service. Usually free self-serve breakfast also. Usually have gyms and some even have diy laundry facilities. They're going to tend to be near business areas so locate them on a map. You can find them on Expedia.com - Extended Stay America, Residence Inn or Homehill Suites might be options in that area - there's others also.

Most apartment rentals in the U.S. will require a lease and a 6month-1 year commitment.

I recommend Jupiter Dive Center as well as Kyalami (Capt Sl8r).

I would recommend looking for a rental south of the inlet and east of US1. That way you can walk to the beach without having to cross any major roads. I lived in this area for the past 10 years just recently moving to another nearby town.

November is generally a good time to dive, the water will just start cooling down a bit but not be cold yet. There is the potential for a few rough days but not like later in the winter. Also chances of hurricanes are greatly reduced that time of year.

You might benefit from posting this in the Florida Diving section. I come here to check out Bonaire posts. I expect the other guys do as well............Friends of ours really like Capt Sl8er and his boat Kyalami. I have been on JDC and they are good. Be aware that most dives are deep and all are drifts. The reef gets a little less deep as you move south thru Broward County/Ft. Lauderdale area.
