Why doesn't one or several of the light gurus post a FAQ or overview sticky to save time for newbies reviewing this forum? I've browsed quite a bit trying to get an nice overview, but it's to "polluted" with off topic discussions. This would save a lot of post with questions like "What's the difference between LED and HID? etc".

This would be greatly appreciated by the confused masses:sappy:

Here's a few questions
"what should I get, a regular light or canister light?"
"What's the difference between LED, HID, Halogen and incandescent?"

Answer to the first one, if you got the money and planning on tech diving, get the canister..
Second answer: LED - longer battery life, longer bulb life, low illumination.
HID - High Intensity Discharge - Works by igniting liquid vapors by high voltage, usually high intensity and low power consumption, short bulb life and warm temperature (from 4000 to 7000 kelvin) also takes time to get full power.
Halogen - short battery life and longer bulb life, weaker than HID and stronger than LED.

How's that? feel free to correct me.

And No, I didn't decide which light to get yet, so I'm "lightless..." :D
