I just don't log dives
Many people seem to install tubing or even wrap black electrical tape over the bands (specifically, the screw area) of their lights.

Is this to prevent wear against the wing? I'm looking at mine, and there are no sharp edges, and the wing is in fine shape. Is there another reason for this?

Curious...

the only thing i can really think of is having tubing over the latches to keep them from accidently being bumped open during the dive.

Typically it is done to lower the snag risk of fishing line getting between the worm gear and the end of the clamp ring. It also covers the Chrome/Stainless and blends the color to one solid color making it look as UP would say purdy!
