routing of light power cord

my DR has a 45" cord. i wear the canister on my right hip with the light on my left hand.

with the light clipped on my right chest D-ring the cord hangs way out in front of me.

as i climbed the ladder in 2-3 foot seas the cord wrapped around the rungs of the ladder. fortunately the zip tie holding the snaps broke first but dragging the lighthead up the ladder behind me was disconcerting at best.

i will start tucking some of the excess in my belt but does anyone have another solution for routing the cord or securing it out of the way.

(i am not terribly interested in sending the light to DR to sorten the cord- $$$)

Tucking in the cord is the way to go. When you are at your saftey stop/last deco stop or when you are done with your light, clip off to the right chest d-ring. Then, MAKING SURE TO FIRST ROUTE THE CORD UNDER YOUR PRIMARY REGULATOR HOSE, tuck the cord into the waist strap. This is also a good time to take a look at yourself to make sure that there aren't other things sticking out that could make problems for you when climbing back onto the boat.

I tuck the extra into the waist strap during the whole dive.

I also like to keep the cord tucked into my waistbelt before I leave the boat or my truck. I've heard about a person jumping or rolling off a boat and having their cord catch. It flooded the light. Kind of expensive mistake.
