    BP/wing harness question

I have to modify my DIR harness on my BP due to an injury. I cannot get it off! I need to put a quick release on the left shoulder but I don't want plastic and I want to retain the "D" ring. Can anyone direct me to a place to buy a stainless steel, side release, quick release? Perhaps another idea? Years ago I saw a training setup used by the BSAC but I cannot find it again. Yes, I know the PADI police will beat me with a rubber hose for changing anything DIR! :-) I don't really care tho'.
    Thanks in advance,
    Mike

Is this just temporary for the injury? I have heard of people using a 2" plastic quick release and not cutting the harness. Just install the quick release on the left shoulder webbing with a lot of slack. The slack should just double under itself when you buckle the quick release.

I don't know of any metal releases. Another stainless buckle could work but I would think that would be cumbersome.

    HTH,

The injury is permanent. I tried the weight belt release trick and it is too bulky. I have been diving the BP wing setup for 12 years.

I have not used them, but the Golem Gear G2 release clips look like they might work for you. The SS buckles look very robust. Perhaps someone else on SB has used them?

Write a review here on SB when you've gotten a few dives on that G2 harness. I'm curious how well it works. Good luck!

    Something else to look at:)

You may want to look at this if you have a Halcyon Backplate it can be upgraded and you will still have a one piece harness.

I have two Halcyons and a Fred T. The Golem looks like it will fit any of them where as the Halcyon won't so I try the Golem. I have tried to find just the metal buckles 'cause I like to make things myself but have had no luck finding them.
