    I use 3 bar glides on my plates as well.
    Don't remember where I first saw it, but it was years ago.
    Almost all configurations of my gear involve
    melding other's ideas to fit my purpose.

    Seat belt type webbing works reasonably well for crotch straps, and it's a lot softer than the 2" resin-reinforced nylon stuff.

    Be careful when buying hardware. I bought a bunch of stainless stuff at a local DIY outdoors store, and all of it is rusting badly.
