It is a really great airport for transit. You should have no problems with finding a good place to rest, as well as relax. There are also good food places, bars, internet kiosks, coffee places, smokers room etc etc.
Signages are VERY VERY clear. If not, I am sure you can always find airport staff to direct you around.
Cheers,

Singaproean
In each Terminal there is a Ambassador transit hotel with showers and short term room rentals. Some restaurants open 24 hours/day. 24 hour per day free internet terminals and WiFi. No need to leave the airport or get a visa as long as you are in transit. Free phones on the wall if you need to call Singapore City.
finding the facilities will be a breeze; just ask the first airport staff u see after you disembark your plane.. everything's in english; both verbal and written communication. Its a big airport, especially when compared to how tiny our country is.. thus there might be a bit of walking involved if you happen to disembark at a gate that's far from the transit hotel.. hope you enjoy ur transit here..
I work at the airport and can attest to what the other Boarders have said. You definitely will have no problem whiling those 5 hours away - even if you don't catch up on snooze. Do visit the Changi Airport website as it contains all the information you'd need.
Thanks eveyone. I think I got enough info to sort over. This sure will help us out. Once we go from LA to Singapore I know we want to hit the showers. Gotta get wet before we go diving.
Sheese, you guys know more about Singapore then a Singaporen LOL!
Don't worry about stuff like showers and the like, over here the facilities are great. Taking a shower phssssss.... heck you do a spa!
