Ahh.. Those pictures bring back uneasy memories...
I once spent over an hour trying to pair a transmitter to the icon...

I opened the transmitter and tried every possible permutation of the following:
- Pair while continuously pressing the purge on the 2nd stage
- Pair while breathing LIGHLY on the 2nd stage
- Pair while breathing HEAVILY on the 2nd stage
- Each of the above while holding the icon 5 cm/10 cm/20 cm from the transmitter
- Each of the above just after inserting the battery back in the transmitter (rumor has it the transmitter is active for a couple of seconds right after the battery is inserted even though it's not pressurized).

My conslusion is that the transmitter should have an LED to show when it's pairing/connected.
Also, I can't tell you how many times I pressed that thing on the bottom that looks like a button, just hoping it is a button and the thing will work. (even though I know it's not a button).
