There have been 5 Blue whale deaths in the past 2 month from boat strikes. 2 in the past 2 weeks. One washed up on the beaches of Huntington Beach. The other was spotted off the coast and was dragged a few miles out to sea. Well it washed back again into the coast of Corona Del Mar, where it was beeing fed on by several sharks, including at least one great white. It was a full on frenzy around the 50' carcus. The teams finally got a line around it's tail, or what was left of it and towed the whale back out to sea once more.

Such a tragedy that so many blue's are being struck by boats. What's going on here? And a great white in Corona del Mar... yikes... Not my idea of a fun encounter.

Anyhow, just wanted to share. The story was on OCN last night.
