I was scuba diving in Victoria B.C. on Saturday with a few friends when I got the shock of my life. No it wasn't from a monster jelly fish but I thought I may have been having the biggest narc hit of my life.
On my first dive that morning about 20 minutes into the dive I was diving parallel to a wall at 85 feet deep with my buddy following behind me. We had just dodged our tenth monster red jelly fish when I saw something come up behind me from the corner of my eye. I looked to my right into open water and there is a guy looking at me with a smile on his face. The kicker is that he isn't using any scuba gear. No tank, no regulator in mouth, nothing but a smile and he was solid green. Did I mention that I was 85 feet down. He waves to me and then calmly turns towards the surface. As he passes in front of me I take a look at his feet and he has what looks like a Mermaid tail. I couldn't be narced, my buddy saw it too. Maybe we were both narced?
Don't call Ripleys just yet because when I got to shore a half hour later he was sitting on the beach with that same smile wearing his green wet suit and beside him was his mono fin. He told me that the maximum depth he has achieved is 72 meters (236ft). I imagine he has a lot of fun with scuba divers at that dive site. Here is a link to show what a monofin looks like. Pretty realistic Merman/Mermaid fin to a diver not expecting company at 85 feet. LOL
