Nowhere near the severity of the pufferfish! I used to import them and they would take huge chunks of flesh out of each other if they were not bagged seperately.
I went back to the boat (shadow middle right) and had to fin through this little lot!
Looks like a perfect reason for a bounce dive to 25 feet to get below them and back to the boat!
After all, the additional stress partially due to just plain pain would adversely affect your ability to normally process (offgas) Nitrogen, so the bounce dive would be no worse than trudging through. Yeah, that's reasonable! I'll go with that reasoning!

Wow - since I haven't experienced this yet I'm glad for adder70's suggestion. How bad were the stings, hyaku?
razor once bubbled... Ok this question is from a newbie. How did you get thru them?and what is a bounce dive.
Thanks
A bounce dive is a short dive to depth. It is generally frowned upon because bubbles tend to develop with repeated pressure changes (up and down changes, not gradual).
However, shallow bounces (less than ~30ft/10m) should have minimal effect unless you push the No-deco limits and repetitive dive limits.

Well this is me
But I always wear a hood!
Just a few stings on the back of the hands. It was the hanging on the steps taking the fins/weights off that spooked me. Its not as if one can just leap out of the water. and there were three of us. i didn't want to wait around either.

Had to do several bounce dives as a DM to free stuck anchors. Then as an instructor, had to do too many CESAs a few times and paid the price. Not wise to do often, for reasons aforementioned... you can, and will, eventually get bent
