Looking for coral reef or marine lfe survey

Hello My name is Kevin. I have just returned from the Philippines and had a wonderful time. I am seeking to find a position helping doing coral reef conservation or fish surveying. Not looking to get rich... obviously...just looking for a beautiful work envirement and would like to help the ocean ecosystem. I would like to expand my personal knowledge and meet new cultures. What's your location and/or where are you looking to work (country)? Try internet searches for non-profit organizations, governement, academia, dive shops, etc.

Most of this stuff is done by volunteers, or specially trained scientists. Most people pay for the "privilege" of doing such surveys, not the other way around. But you may check with these well-known coral reef surveying groups. Sometimes there are internships offered which may cover travel costs.

Hello Ocean Diver , I am currently in SF Bay area. I have just returned from the Philippines. Had such a great time. I realized upon my return, how I would like to try to contribute and save coral reefs and marine life. I would also like to educate locals and the world of the plight of our ecosystems.Admittedly I want to work/ dive in a beautiful area. I would like to work indo- pacific. Palau,Fiji, PNG,Borneo, P.I.`s. I know I have my work cut out...but you have to have a dream. Thanks for the reply. Good diving to you Kind regards Kevin

Archman listed some great links. I would add another one that's in your area, The Coral Reef Alliance. Perhaps you could gain some experience with them and then move on to those places that you listed. I know all about having a dream...if there's a will, there's a way!

check out www.coralcay.org and search for coral cay on this website - i wrote a fairly extensive reprt of my trip last year with them. if its the kind of thing you are looking to do and want to know anymore i will be happy to help.
