I just noticed your message about the "new" wetsuit in my profile picture. Well, it was new once! Been through two since then and in need of another. Just like SCUBA tanks that keep emptying out, my wetsuits always seem to end up with holes... and the legs on this one are starting to fall off just like the others!

What kind of a switch is it, make/model? Occasionally if a switch hasn't been rebooted in a long time, I'm talking over a year or longer..you may run into memory/resource issues/flakyness..but it's hard to tell.

They give all kinds of warnings has far as CPU utilization, memory, etc. These dont do much good unless you are logging them to a syslog server etc.

I have seen groups of ports, usually in close vicinity to each other die at the same time, I think they shared the same ASICS or something like that.

Depending on the switch/age sometimes they just go bad. Sometimes the good ole reboot fixes it, but chances are it will happen again.

Thanks Dave! Just trying to be a good citizen, so to speak. (yes, I know the old addage - "No good deed goes unpunished...")
