Headed out this weekend.... Heard Viz was about 8 ft yesterday (but windy). Will probably hit my typical spots (Alhambra and Golden Beach) but was wondering if you had any thoughts on the Manasota area. Looking for new spots.

Also, one other question: This summer I am trying to get a group of 4 or 5 people together. Ideally we want to search for new spots/map spots. Someone suggested hiring a boat (yours) and doing it. Interested? If you can let me know rates. Thought would be 2 tank dive, we grid off a space (each person "assigned space") and report. Shooting for May.

    Hope you are good...

My pal Phill is diving the Cooper river the second weekend of July. I haven't committed yet but I may go with him. I found a Gomphotherium tooth and a 4" Meg last weekend in the Edisto river and it makes me want more. If you get serious let me know and I will hook you up with them and I will go also.

This is Phill's larger boat running a tributary of the Cooper river

This is Johnny's boat running the main part of the Cooper river.

    To Jamie,

    An invitation.

I am talking with a long time scuba friend of mine that I have been underwater fossil hunting with for 10 years. He has been doing river charters for 20 years. We are talking about doing some exploratory diving in the Edisto river and/or the Wando river. (Charleston SC) We will be diving virgin sites and there is a potential for large fossil hauls of all kinds of variety. Viz 3 feet to 8 feet depending on conditions. Depth 15 to 30 feet. These dives will not be total stranger typical charter business. These dives are by invitation only to known, experienced, underwater fossil hunters. Targeting June and July.

Yea, still in the same house in Nokomis. I think you were here a few times weren't you?? Just north of Laurel Rd.

Yea, good diving out there right now. We have been getting top to bottom vis out in the 80 foot range. We dove the Bayronto 2 days in a row last week and we could see the boat from the top of the wreck. Pretty nice. LOTS of fish, but lots of bull sharks too!

I still work mostly weekends, so I have lots of free time during the week. We'll have to set something up sometime. I have a couple weeks vacation coming up at the end of July too.

Hey Brother! How the hell are ya? Just found this group online and low and behold, who do I see here! Long time no see! Nice looking boat you have there! Still doing lots of sharks tooth diving I see! I haven't dove for fosils in a long time. Still have boxes of them from the old days when we used to hunt for them.

Maybe we can get out and get wet one day.
