  • About Bob Vincent
    Biography
I was certified Oct. 1977 as a PADI Open Water & SSI Advanced Diver. In the early 80's I became a PADI Master Scuba Diver & Divemaster & AI. Then to an ITC in Baraboo WI to become a PADI OWSI for most of the 80's. Then on Jan. 10th 1989 I was certified a Master Trainer. Then I Staffed my first PADI IDC. As an original Staff Instructor for Underwater Sports we were the first dive shop to plug the CO2 inflaters on BCD's. A test facility for the first Casio dive watches. We were one of the pioneers of the left handed Octo's which Sherwood/Sel-Pac custom made for us along with longer hoses. Was Co-Team Leader for a specialized Rescue, Search & Recovery team hired by the American Drag Boat Assoc. (ADBA) For the Creve Coure Classic in MO and another in Lynchfeild IL before and during the introduction of capsule boats. Specialized training in rescue, search & recovery in dark water.

Diving in the late 70's was mostly ran as a Navy boot camp type training. You learned a little bit of everything. Including diving with a blacked out mask, while your instuctor would pull fins off, turn your air off, flood your mask unhook your weights and all kinds of things. They figured it made you a better diver. You know in the years I've been diving since, I never had a fish turn my air off! Go figure? But I tell you I'm ready for him!

Diving before tech was tech, your friend bought a manifold and put 2 80's together. Then you followed suit. Then one would tell the other don't go head first and steamline, the bottom comes up real fast! ... Are next time we go inside that wreck we need a rope tied outside so we can find our way out if we kick it up worse next time! You know if we carried 2 extra tanks with us we'd have alot more air!
