Avatar Pic: Atlantic torpedo ray, about 5' long. I snapped her while she swam past my buddy at a depth of about 50' at Cathedral Rock, Rockport, MA, July 2002.
About Me? Moderation is the key. I'm even moderate in age: middle-aged (if I live to a hundred and ten!)
I'll be a real friend anytime, but I just don't see a good use for an online "Friends" list. Aside from that, I'm always glad to hear from other divers about diving and real connections.

Dive History
Certified in '96, most of my 900+ dives have been peaceful solo shore dives in the waters off Cape Ann, MA, and in local lakes in NH and NY (Lake George). Other than just diving for the sheer joy of feeling weightless and free, my activities on most dives include taking photos, harvesting what's in season and salvaging anything worthwhile. I've done less than 100 warm water dives (North Carolina wrecks, Florida Keys reefs, Bonaire shore dives). Of course, I'd prefer warm water over cold, but I enjoy what I've got and dive year-round in a drysuit with plenty of insulation to stay warm on long relaxing dives.

Dive Equipment
I'm just using an old jacket-style bcd, HP steel 120 cf main tank with an AL30 cf pony on a Highland band. Regulators are old Sherwood Blizzards. My DUI CLx450 drysuit and SI TECH drygloves, with enough insulation, keep me warm in the coldest water for extended duration (90 minutes or more, I'm proud to say). I usually bring along my Olympus 4040 digital in an Ikelite housing. No external strobe yet. Some day. Also, I may be a bit peculiar, but, along with my dive flag, I usually tow a "tuna ball", something I first used on scallop dives, but soon found handy for retrieving heavy salvage items. Over the years, those salvage items have included anchors up to 60 lbs, a new mountain bike, numerous downrigger balls, weight belts, etc.
