Dive History:
I primarily work in scientific diving and technical diving instruction. I have contributed to many dive textbooks, including authoring Mastering Rebreathers and the Antarctic Research Diving Manual. I have been diving all over the world, but still love my hometown diving in California. My specialty is cave diving.
Certification History:
I was first certified in 1973 in California. I now am certified as a Course Director by NAUI and TDI; a Cave Diving Instructor Sponsor by the NSS-CDS; and am an Instructor Trainer Trainer with IANTD. I served 8 years on NAUI's Board of Directors, 7 years on the NSS Cave Diving Section Board of Directors (including Chairman for 2 years), and served 6 years on the Board of the American Academy of Underwater Sciences. I am the recipient of the DAN / Rolex Diver of the Year Award, and am an inductee in the NAUI Hall of Honor.
