Born in Michigan, joined USN (submarines) @ 18 y/o; after 6 years joined Army (3 years); became scuba diver in 1988, commercial diver in 1989.
Location:

Interests:
I always dive outside; I never dive inside. What are you talking about?
Gender:
Male
Certification Agencies:
YMCA, Divers Academy of the Eastern Seaboard, CMAS, PDIC, SSI, DAN
Dive History:
Commercial diver since 1989; trained in Camden, NJ. Worked as inland diver from Maine to Jamaica, Mississippi River to Atlantic coast, primarily industrial diving & underwater inspection. Helped build & install Braddock Dam in Pittsburgh. Not a lot of commercial diving since, but would like to get back into technical diving--I say "back" because I've done some aspects of it--primarily air & O2 decompression diving & wreck penetration--but would like to learn adv eanx & trimix. Qualified on He02 from 22 years ago, but never actually used the gas for work or other. Qualified hyperbaric chamber operator & have worked occasionally as chamber supv on some jobs.
Certification History:
YMCA Open Water; DAES - Commercial Deep Sea Diver; PDIC Nitrox; YMCA Air & Scuba Lifesaving / Accident Mgt Instructor; CMAS Air Instructor; SSI Nitrox (as step toward Nitrox instructor credentials); DAN 02 Provider.
Certification Level:
Commercial Deep Sea Diver; YMCA/CMAS Air Instructor
# of Logged Dives:
5,000 - ∞
Dive Classification:
Commercial Diver
Years Certified:
Ten Or More Years
Dive Equipment:
Superlite 17B (Helmet)--don't usually use for "fun!" Double aluminum 80's w/single outlet "J" manifold or single 80/72 & horse collar; ALWAYS used DACOR regs in the past, then traded them (ALL OF THEM!) in for MARES Abyss regs. The Abyss is a great reg (at least I think it is) but I don't like the angle of the HP ports. Would LOVE to go back to DACOR 960-XLB's (had 3 of them) and DACOR military 460-XLE. Abyss delivers A LOT of gas, but I can't seem to get used to how the hoses are set up, no turret (like 960). I probably just need more bottom time on this reg . . . . I have 2 HP compressors, Nautica & Davey, EANx atmospheric entrainment blending device built by my dog & me, cascade system, other odds & ends. My wife has been taking my accelerated scuba class for about 8 years now--not her fault! She's a willing & apt student, but she & her instructor are busy. We have her dive gear, too.
