I was free diving for a couple years until I saw a Batray and Leopard shark at Christmas Tree Cove in Palos Verdes, CA. I knew right then that I wanted to spend more than a minute underwater so I took a Naui OW course in 1989 and have been exploring the depths ever since.
I've dived wrecks and reefs from shallow shore dives to depths well below 200 feet, but I find so much to see at my local mudholes that I will always have exciting dives.
