Dive History:

Began diving 1970 certified at 10 years old. Both parents NAUI Instructors. More early experience than I can relate, pioneer stuff when the sport was dangerous and equipment unreliable. Currently involved in developing Adventure Tec / Augmented Reality Dive Programs.

Very active in Fluorodiving and UW Fluoro-photography, the use of special torches to display coral fluorescence. Pioneering of other new techniques for Night Diving, like extreme vision-enhancement from Astronomy.

Commercial Dry Suit Diver, Southeast Alaska, vessel service.

Certification History:

NAUI 1970, age 10. As far as 'certificates' pre-industry for many areas. Most of my youth certificates were not in existence for the things we were doing. Some still aren't. Always been ahead of the curve in dive adventures. Have very few certificates, don't believe in them. Money spent to convince someone you know something.

Nowadays I use a Zeagle Scout BCD for travel and an Apeks XTX -- but my fondest memories involve using the equipment seen in movies like "Sea Hunt". The state of rental gear in locales like 1980's Mexico was mind blowing.
