In six years of diving in SoCal, and numerous trips to Catalina, I don't think I've identified a month or season in which the vis is any better than...
Mainly diving in dark and cold water with poor visibility. Coldest dive water temp was -0.9 degrees Centrigrade, i.e. below freezing.
Memorable experiences include:
- Visiting WWII submarines at 50+ meters in Norway and Estonia
- Diving lava tubes in Teneriffe
- Deep air, deep blue
- Wrecks in Gibraltar
- Caverns in l'Estartit, Spain
- Cave systems in Sardinia
- Mines and ice diving in Finland
- Many ancient wrecks in Bay of Finland. The oldest dated 16th century.
- Visiting an 18th century sail ship wreck with the ship bell still on deck!
- Solo diving an underwater forest in Russia
- Diving an underwater 19th century water power plant
