It all depends on what part of Canada you live in - but there is usually some type of diving year-round in most of Canada.

If you live near the pacific or atlantic, they don't freeze so you can dive year-round depending on the weather. Here on Vancouver Island, the water temp drops to maybe 50F, so a drysuit is recommended. Actually, it's the land temperatures between or after diving that really get you (especially in a wetsuit).

I've also lived in Calgary, and we dove lake Minnewanka year round. We dive until about Christmas, when the lake freezes over. Then again in Feb/March we cut holes in the ice and dive. Water temps then are about 36F so again you must have drysuit, 7mm hood and drygloves.

Hi there! I'm in the process of immigrating to Canada, and i'm already depressed about not being able to dive as often as i do now, but after seeing your post, i realize that diving in Canada is actually possible...isn't it too cold to dive up there?
I'm diving mainly in the Red Sea, so i'm a spoilt brat where it comes to diving...but would like to continue my diving after movin to Canada.
