my wife and i are coming down there may 29th-June 7th. we're staying at Adventura Palace Resort from the 30th-6th. I need a place to stay just for Fri the 29th and Saturday the 6th. (i want to be recover from the flight by the time we check in and there are no Saturday flights out to Seattle unless i want to stay overnight in LA). just need a place to crash, nothing fancy at all.
Our flight was delayed on our way to Cancun last month. We were supposed to arrive at 11am, but didn't get in till after 8pm at night. Dark. To say the least, not a good idea to drive the rental.
Anyway, we stayed that night at Courtyard Marriott Cancun....not far from the airport, very very nice place, pool, restaurant on the premises etc. I think it would be a good decompression stop for you both ways.
We were charged $120 a night....which is about the going price for a clean hotel w/ ammentities in the States too.
Playa Maya, Luna Blue and Hotel Cielo have all been mentioned as nice hotels with reasonable prices. According to their websites, the last two, have standard rooms for $100 a night. Playa Maya doesn't post their rates. You can find their sites using google. Good luck.
When you said cheap, that put me in a backpacker mode. You can go a lot cheaper in PDC, $30 a night but I would not stay there.
We like the Riviera Caribe Maya on the north end of 5th Ave in PDC. Nothing special, clean rooms, free breakfast and good location. Aqualuna would also fit the bill. Newer with smaller rooms and just south of Constituentes on 10th. Right at $115 a night is Hotel Lunata. Central 5th Ave between Calle 6 and 8. Nice hotel that got a star in Frommers. If you have a lot of gear with you, Lunata is not a good choice due to the stairs and 5th Ave is pedestrian only on that stretch.
Easy to get to, clean and no hassle, go with Riviera Caribe Maya. Basic room goes for around $70. If you are traveling with kids and looking for two rooms, either of the suites will work for 3 or 4 people (futon couch in the living room).
Jumping on this, anybody know of something cheap in Cancun, possibly with airport shuttle. Need to overnight in cancun to catch early morning flight out.
