Hey Folks,
I'm going to be at Rawlings this weekend to finally get my AOW and NITROX certs. I should arrive Sat morning around 10 and am spending the night. If you are going to be there, say hello. I'll be driving a green Honda CRV.
RAD - My hellacious travel schedule should be easing a bit. Would love to dive with you again this fall. I did the tower/tug here in July, good dive, about 40 foot vis with huge schools of Spadefish and some HUGE tog under the stern.
Sounds good Rob, the Tug is 1 of my favorite in-shore dives, along with the Santore which I got to dive by accident recently, we also had 40+ ft of vis. Seems like a good year for vis in Va. Beach.
We were just at Rawlings last Saturday & 2 weeks before on a Saturday giving my wife more practice in her drysuit before we hit Lake Erie next weekend.
Good luck with your classes, & look forward to diving in the near future with you. That Nitrox cert. will help tremendously with BT.
1 more thing Andy (Drewski) & I have been going to Nags Head & diving recently with http://www.obxdive.com/ with good results. Maybe you could join us on a trip. We go early in the morning & are home by 5pm the same day.
Does anybody have a Map of the underwater attractions at Lake Rawlings? Would you be willing to share it?
I've heard of one, but I haven't seen it. I would certainly like to see it also.
I just did 6 dives there this past weekend (it was PACKED), and have 11 dives there total, and I am still seeing new stuff. Although I couldn't see much there this weekend with all the silt floating EVERYWHERE.
FWIW, water temp was a balmy 82 deg at the surface, on average the thermocline level was around 29 feet, and at the rock bottom of the quarry my computer said it was 62 degrees.
