One of the very best of them all is "Dive Training". Great mag. Great articles!
Cheers!
Gotta agree with this. Dive training magazine is very good.
They don't see to be so "biased" by the advertisers, etc.
A subscription isn't cheap, I think $26 or $29/year, but you
can get a "free" 6 month subscription card typically from
your dive instructor, since you are a new diver. Otherwise
you can pick them up for free from most dive shops.
Scuba Diving Magazine has some usefull information in it,
but in most people opinion, it could be a lot better.
They seem to do the same stories of the same dive
destinations over and over again on different years.
I guess they can't find anything new to report.
Subscriptions to them can range from $12/year to
$18/year in the little subscription cards that come
in their magazine. In my person opinion, it's not
worth the $18/year. But if you go to Ebay and
search for Scuba Diving Magazine you'll find an
online store named Blue Sky Magazines that sells
magazine subscriptions. They have it for $8.95 for
two years. That's about 40 cents per issue.
So for that price, you can't go wrong as for 40 cents
you can at least use it for bathroom reading material.
Padi Sport Diver is another mag. Sometimes they
have good stories, but they also want $29/year
for a subscription so that you can join their
"Padi diving society"
Advanced Diver Magazine. I'll pick it up and
read it if a copy is lying around, but they want
$8 bucks a copy at the magazine stand and
$25/year for only 4 issues per year subscription.
*ouch* on that price per issue.
Fathoms also is $30 bucks for 4 issues.
Of course these last two cost a lot more for
a subscription or per issue, but I don't think
they are as controlled by their advertisers
like the formally Rodales (now just Scuba diving)
