Just started taking the SSI Open Water Course. Wondering about the final exam. (if there is one) What is the difficult level and what type of exam is it? (multiple choice, etc.) Is the exam posted on the internet anyplace for study?

It's multiple choice and there will be table questions on it.
If you read the book, do the questions in the back of the book and understand how to work the tables, you should ace the test.
What Web Monkey said.... just pay attention in class and read the book and you'll do fine. Don't be afraid to ask questions if you don't fully understand something.
It's been awhile since the school days of study and tests and so on. My 19 year old college daughter is getting a kick out of old dad sitting on the couch studying. She says I'm worrying to much. I told her I forgot how to study. She just laughs. Oh to be young again.
The test is easy if you read the book and answer all the questions at the end of the chapters. Much easier then tests were in school, because this is something I really wanted to learn. Good luck!

Don't sweat it... the test is just to make sure you understood everything, it's not there to fail you (unlike some of my college teacher's tests).
One thing particularly helpful about the SSI course is at the end of each chapter will be a quiz that you fill out, tear it out of the book and hand it to your instructor, and he will make sure it's correct. By the time you finish these, you will have seen all the questions that will be on the test.
You will do just fine. Read the review questions again before the test. Your instructor will also do a review of the tables and questions that are on the test during the final class.
It's been a while but I beleive the mast challenging part for most is being able to plan a two dive profile. I took it with my two teenage sons, so I was student and teacher, helping them study. One had trouble with this part, but got it.
