I'm new to this forum and already I've come across several things that I can't understand

For instance what does BP/W stand for???

If anyone has a list or translations etc... could you please post

Or if anyone is willing could you please write up a list of the most common
Like OW - Open Water
AOW - Advanced Open Water
etc...

Thanks in advance to anyone who helps!:)

Can't think of all of them right now but BP/W stands for Back plate and wing which is not a BC per se but a type of buyoancy device that is simplified and came from cave divers and Holgarthian diving and is in current use by DIR/GUE....

I'm a ScubanewB too ... it's fun - and challenging to figure out what they mean.

BP/W- Back Plate and Wings
OW - Open Water
AOW - Advanced Open Water
EAN - Enriched Air Nitrus
DIR - "Doing it Right" - sort of a systematic "more technical" way of gearing up & techniques
Hog or Hogarthian - a founder of DIR
Reg - regulator

... well, after looking at Jay's links, I guess I'll stop ...

Ummmmm....... you might want to have another look at these two again! :D

(There are a TON of threads about these two concepts on the board!)
