Since I first discovered SB several years ago I have met and dived with some great people here.
A few years ago, two complete strangers, Herman and DeputyDan, of the NC divers first invited us to join them threw SB, and introduced us to Bonaire, taking my newly certed teenagers under their wings. They were like our second family on Bonaire.
Then I bumped into the DNY crew, and they have become like family too. The rowdy branch of the family, for sure, but family all the way.
Next summer we will be returning to Bonaire to dive with an entirely new group of people from many distant places, that I so far only know as fellow SB travelers.
I have met great people here, many times over, had some great dialogs, and a few friendly spats with fellow divers from all over the world.
I agree 110% about Scubaboarders being awesome. Every time I visit FL, the SoFl SBers are warm and inclusive, makes me feel family the minute I meet them. And during my visit out west, Marian, Dave, Dr Bill, Brian, Elena, Kimber and DB were equally as warm and as inclusive.
I'm fortunate to have Dive NY locally cause without SB, I'd be buddy-less and have zero fun during SI. Scubaboarders ROCK!!
Btw, must correct Donna's post, I'm not the SB Queen, Letterboy is, have ya seen his manicured toes?

Donna - since you are the one that directed me to SB when I was looking for a dive buddy, I place all the blame on you I have met an awesome group of people and have had some great dive experiences because of it. It opened opportunities that I never realized and has taken me from a "warm water only" diver to an insane, "I've got a drysuit now" diver.
To everyone out there, this is a great place to network. Where ever in the world you are, SB can find you a dive buddy.
I can well remember diving when there was no communication with fellow divers, unless you already knew each other. A lone diver looking for a buddy had little choice, but to book a vacation and hope for a decent "insta buddy" situation, and locally it took a lot of effort to track down new buddies. If you didn't have family or a group of friends who were divers, or hook up with a club you were on your own.
ScubaBoard was a revelation, and a revolution, for me, and from finding many new friends and buddies, to arranging great trips, and even locating the best instructors for my then 10 and 14 year olds, I owe a lot to people I have met here threw SB.
through my SB connections I have once again had an awesome dive experience. I mention this to new divers because I have been very fortunate with my Scubaboard connections both locally and when I travel, it is an excellent resource
Donna
I have to say that my diving opportunities have tripled since I started posting on ScubaBoard. I have met many new and interesting dive buddies who have helped me to improve as a diver. I now tell all the divers I come in contact with to check out ScubaBoard for themselves.
