Ahh the Christmas feast. Ok diet tomorrow. Perhaps I'm closer to when I started diving than most here. I'v been diving 4 yrs now. My first dive trip was to belize and my sac was poor. around .8 on the 12 dives we did there. Next trip was to Roatan, with a group I had met online - zen divers- and one of the divers was an instructor (Dee). After our first couple dives she approached me and very carefully offered her help. She could not have been more polite but I knew she was saying "I sucked". I was happy to take her up on the offered help. Actually I was ecstatic. Whe helped me to adjust my bc so tank rode a bit higher, put some weights in the back of my integrated BC, the whole trim deal. Then of course I was diving 5 times a day. Bottom line was my sac dropped to .6 that week. I noticed the biggest drop at about dive 32. Several divers I have spoken to noticed a big drop between dive 30 - 40 if they dove a lot. I try to get out 3 times a yr. since tht big drop my rate has gradually dropped. Now at least I'm about an "aerage guy" with a rate between .43 and .53. My first dive or 2 of a trip my rate is higher than the rest of the week. In high currents that are not a drift dive my sac is higher. Other than that I seem to be slowly improving. Oh, and slow down . Coast and relax between kicks. And dive a lot.
