    Yes, I reread the relevant portion of the course. It says with a normal breath of air (not full lungs).

    Go to the pool and do a weight check. Use an empty tank. You could do this when you do your AOW pool sessions. The LDS should have some empty tanks laying around. Empty = 500psi. Remember to add 6lbs when diving in salt vs. fresh.
