Hi All newbie diver here thanks in advance for your responses. I am going to Dominican Republic in March and was looking online for a dive shop that is close to or on the resort we are staying at. I was wondering what would happen if I found a dive shop that wasn't PADI certified ? Are most or all PADI ? Can I still dive with them if not PADI ?
Thanks for your responses
If you are a diver certified by a major agency like PADI, every dive operator should recognize that. There are issues with transferring classes from one agency to another, but as far as going out for dives, it should not be any kind of issue at all.
What happens? You go diving! The agency only matters for classes, and even then you can take one class with one agency, and another class with a different one. You just can't split one class between the two I believe. But after you are certified with Padi, or any other recognized agency, you can dive anywhere. They don't care about anything other than you are certified.
