    Question CT Shore Dives

Can anyone reccomend any good shore dives in CT? I live in CT when I'm not at school and would like to get some dives in without the hassle and expense of a charter.

    Dont know about CT

But, depending on how far you live away from RI or MA, you can get some great diving and some great charters. Is that a reasonable option?

Let us know and we can suggest a bunch of different options...

I live in Rocky Hill which is near Hartford, so it would be more of a hassle to go too far to the east. If you know a good boat in CT, that would be helpful. I am really interested in some shore spots that I could hit up during the week too though.

    Cadet Diver:

Most of the boats that I'm aware of are out of Fairfield County, which is about equidistant from Ft. Weatherall, RI or Charlestown Harbor.

Stonington is adequate (barely, IMHO), if you like really shallow dives, but by the time you get there, what's the point.

The LDS I DM for is in Rocky Hill. Are you ever in Scuba Shack?

    Northeast wrecks,

Where in Stonington is the best diving? I know it's all shallow, but is there anything interesting to see anywhere with a tank? I do a lot of snorkeling off of Lord's Point, (which is really nice, I see seahorses and huge schools of those panicked silversides), and have always wanted to get tanks and see what's around, say, Rock Island? (or as they so lovingly call it on Lord's Point,
"S--T Island" because of the cormorants that live on it).

Devils_Advocate gave me this link in an old thread, they run charters. As for shore dives, ewe, the water in the sound in pretty gross. I would imaging the vis would be bad... not to mention the pollution. You can dive in my lake if you want...

This is a place one of the most popular charters in the area. He charters out to several different wrecks.
