The United Divers of New Hampshire will be hosting Hon. Maureen C. Mooney, State Representative from Merrimack, NH at our monthly meeting Dec 17th, 2007. At the clubs request, Maureen will be discussing legislative matters with respect to resurrecting a bill that would allow the taking of lobsters by divers within state waters. A similar bill has been in the legislature before but never made it to the floor for a vote (that I'm aware of) and has faced stiff opposition from the commercial lobstermen within the state (of course).

This meeting is open to all divers and we would particularly like to have a good turnout from the NH diving community to show support for such a bill.

UDNH meets at the downtowm YMCA in Manchester, NH. Meeting time is 7:00 and usually runs till 8:30. We then adjourn and head to CJs for "deco". If you would like additional information or directions please PM me.

Thank you,

Timk

c'mon NH divers, show your support. Why should a select few be be able to harvest natural resource. The NH diver popuplation would only account about 1 1/2 % of lobsters harvested. We need to organize and get our ducks in a row. The State of NH Fish & game is in a funding crisis. The revenues for lobster diving permits could ease the crunch.

I've always wondered why this would not be considered discrimination?

Any ACLU lawyers out there?

Those labstah fishermen can get downright cranky sometimes; it may be a lot safer to just drive down to MA for the bugsnatching.
Not a (safe) option, have to be a MA resident or own MA real estate to get a license.

Yup. The EP have all the dive sights staked out, "How'ya doin', got any lobstah in that coolah?"
