Best and Worst of 2002

What were the best things and worst things about 2002, in your opinion? They can be about anything in general, or something personal.

As for me, the best of 2002 was getting to make more dives than I had for the previous two years combined. The worst was still not having a full-time job, and the two part-time jobs I had have run their courses. I hope something comes along in 2003.

Best - Year for Travel 2002

January - Calgary, Alberta
March - Amsterdam (Harleem & Delft)
June - San Juan, Puerto Rico & St Thomas (first sea water diving)
September - Lisbon, Estoril, Evora and Algarve, Portugal
December - Bonaire & Curacao

Worst - Gallbladder attack then, cut backs announced at work

Good: trashed rec.scuba and found ScubaBoard

This was a great year.
Best:
All the Dive trips and meeting so many new friends.

Worst:
My son falling in school and in a cast with crutches right now. Waiting to hear if he needs surgery.

Best: having the opportunity to meet and dive with some great Scubaboard members.

Worst: catching a cold and fracturing a rib, neccesitating 8 weeks dry. Then taking in my reg for service, the tech finding a manufacturer defect and waiting for a part to come in. Actually, I'm STILL waiting - total dry time (so far) 3 1/2 months.

Best: First year I dove after certification, first warm water dive in Florida Keys, first wreck dive.

Worst: I can't think of anything all that bad worth stating. I'm a lucky and fortunate person.

Significant birthday with a zero in the number...

Stock market performance

Being hit by a Ford F150 while cycling

Knee surgery (see above)

GOOD STUFF:
Getting ALL new scuba gear (BP/W, regs, jetfins, compass, mask, knife, shears, scout light, spool, lift bag, spg, bottom timer)

Getting into technical diving

Abandoning the insipid bickering of rec.scuba and migrating to SB

Having a successful first year of self-employment

Having my mom survive breast cancer
