When I got certified in Hawaii a couple of years ago, on the first day, my instructor taught us the "Three Most Important Rules of Scuba Diving":
  1. Never hold your breath
  2. Equalize early and often
  3. Remember to tip your diving instructor

    I guess the only reason the third rule was last is that if you didn't follow the first two, you might not be around to carry out the third.
