I'm not sure if you're the same one referenced in the website, but aren't some of your buddies the now banned Tekdivegirl and Tekdiveguy (they were referencing a person named "Popeye" on their pages)?
I dive with him all the time.
Nice of you to assess his abilities with a keyboard.
Hope your skills are as good as his.
This isn't the first time you've banned him, or the fifth, and it won't be the last.
With your attitude, I can see why (when you're a nice guy, nice things happen to you).
Enjoy!
It's probably possible to control the tank in such a manner that you can surface in a reasonably safe manner. However, except for doffing the BC underwater and replacing the tank, I see little way to continue the dive. With a buddy, on the other hand, a loose tank is a relatively easy fix.
I have a tendancy to put mine on correctly to begin with, and a backplate has two straps (as does a quality BC) but would have no problem fixing it underwater anyway.
MNStarfish and her husband did well. Its never fun to pull off a rescue.
I don't need to see him in the water to know that I wouldn't trust him in a swimming pool. It has to do with his mental stability rather than his skills.
He's on anti-psychotic meds. He threatened several people with physical harm because they disagreed with him on an internet board. His webpage invites people to duel. His pictures suggest that he is a heart attack waiting to happen.
Yeah. I'll trust him. Right. That sounds like a great idea.
Incidentally, I don't ban people on this board. That's a moderator decision.
As for the balance of your post, I agree. When I dive singles, I make sure that the bands are tight. However, since I prefer doubles, that's rarely an issue.
Call MNStarfish's actions whatever you want. The fact remains that she and her husband bailed out a diver and did it well. What do you suppose the reaction would have been if this idiot had lost his tank and reg?

Like I said, I dive with him all the time.
Apparently, you'd be incorrect.
He's on anti-psychotic meds.
The reason that -I- take them is to keep from choking people that annoy me.
Lots of people annoy me.
He threatened several people with physical harm because they disagreed with him on an internet board. His webpage invites people to duel. His pictures suggest that he is a heart attack waiting to happen.
I'm twice his size.
People from all around the country, and other countries, meet me to go diving, as recently as this month.
As far as the threats go, I'm glad you don't hang around Rec.scuba.
As far as him having a heart attack, he's an avid tennis player that dominates local competition, so I hope you aren't waiting or anything.
Yeah. I'll trust him. Right. That sounds like a great idea.
Doesn't make him a bad person, does it?
Incidentally, I don't ban people on this board. That's a moderator decision.
All I can say is that you brought it up, not me, in a totally unrelated thread.
That puts the onus of why he's the topic of discussion on you.
Running your mouth about the guy when he's not around is, well, cowardly.
And I'm sure it gives him the warm fuzzies to still be in your thoughts, when I'm sure he's completely forgotten about you.

Of the hundreds of divers present at the Gilboa accident a couple weeks ago, one voice boomed after the call for help came from the middle of the quarry. It was directed at the distressed divers who shouted for help. It asked, " Is the Diver breathing? " followed by , " Is the diver conscious? " Thus preparing the land crew what to expect. Others were sitting on their hands wondering what to do. The man shouting was Popeye. Internet persona...whatever. He's clutch. He just happened to be standing there, but took charge.
I'd dive with him anywhere, anytime.
