I'm currently reading the tech manual in preparation for the test. No idea when I'm taking it yet. Any hams on SB?

Can anyone recommend a good radio for a beginner? I'm looking to spend under 200.

I would look for and contact a local club and ask around there. A radio all depends on what exactly you want to do with it, what bands, digital or not, computer interface? code? EME? portable? detachable head? blah blah. Good reviews here: eHam.net Reviews
