H2Andy, thanks for starting this thread. Yesterday I spent almost the whole night watching Spanish TV. And as 9/11 I coulnd't believe in what I'm watching I couldn't believe yesterday. 3 Poles died in Madrid, family and their 7 months old daughter. 3 others are wounded. We, as all Europe are mourning today. I just came back from the Spanish embassy in warsaw where around 30 thousand Poles gathered in silence to comemorate yesterday's victims.
Right now over a milion af Madrit inhabitans are marching to the railway station.

I share your grief and outrage over this cowardly act of terrorism. May the families of the victims find some small comfort in the knowledge that so many others share their sorrow. May Peace begin with us.
I have several friends in Madrid, all are safe and accounted for, but their stories are truly shocking. A couple of them have cousins or relatives of friends that were lost. The whole city is in a state of shock. And you can bet that every Madrileño is going to cast their vote on election day.
You can explain again and again to me why people do these things, but I will never get it. I just can't comprehend.
Interesting things that the news reports have come up with: The date of the Madrid attack was 3/11/03, exactly 911 days since 9/11/01. There also appears to be a suicide component to this attack also...
I dont think these attacks are going to stop. Its just a matter of when and where. They will not stop.

My thoughts and prayers are with all who lost loved ones. I think I heard tonight there are about 9 countries represented in the losses and that for numbers and percentages of population in spain, this equals our 9/11 tragedy (ratios of people).
We can hope and pray that SOMEDAY we will live in a world governed by peace and goodwill.

Not merely an absence of noise, Real Silence begins when a reasonable being withdraws from the noise in order to find peace and order in his inner sanctuary.

After seeing the outpouring of support from every corner of the globe after 9/11 I wanted, somehow, to express my heartfelt sadness for the victims and their families of this horrendous act of violence. To quote H2Andy, "To members from Spain, please know we are thinking of you."
