Hi everyone,

Dan and I were about to dive the Metridium Fields yesterday when we heard "Diver in distress. Carmel." repeated twice. We saw a helicopter go by a bit later. I heard something about a fatality on the Express, a diver tangled in kelp or something. Anyone have more information?

We should keep the ScubaBoard discussion in the Accidents
forum.

There was also another incident, with a much happier outcome,
four miles south of Pt. Lobos at Lobos Rocks on Saturday.
Two divers got caught in current. It took one two and a half
hours to get back to the boat. The other swam the half mile to
shore. Everybodies OK, but there's one set of missing gear.

ok everyone hears the scoop stright from the horses mouth!!!!!!! this diver was not tangled in anything, i wont disclose his name but he was diving on the express and he and his 13 yr old daughter were under and he went into destress and appeard to be grabbing for his octo, he then started floundering around and the stopped moving, his eyes went wide open and had stopped breathing, friends of mine then got him on the boat and did all of the rescue procedures and (tim monterey express) got them to E.M.S and sadley enough he did not make it, it is ASSUMED that he had a heart attack, the atoppsy will be done tomorrow and i will then have the rest of the info, condolences to the family, he was a good guy and will be missed!!! hope this clears things up
