I have reservations for Lobos on both July 30 and 31. It wasn't until later that I remembered that the 30th is my wedding anniversary. I guess I'll have to pick a fight with her early in the day, then go diving instead. :11: Now all I need is a dive buddy.
1. I totally concur with Mark, drysuit is the way to go
2. I haven't dove with the Sanctuary, but from what I hear, it's a great boat. 6 divers max, so you're not crowded for space on the boat. I believe the Capt. of the Sanctuary is a regular on this board.
The Escapade is a great boat as well, I would not, however, recommend the Express or the Cypress.
3. I unfortunately have to divemaster an OW class that weekend in the mornings, but am always up for an afternoon fun shore dive at Monestary. =)
Thanks for the info. I looked at the charters that you guys told me about and went with Sanctuary because it is a 6 pack. I kind of like that small group thing. I'm going out with them on the morning of the 31st, but would be up for a shore dive later in the day or on Friday or Saturday.
Dannobee - I don't have to pick a fight with anyone to go diving anymore. It was either diving, sailing, the motorcycle, having a beer once in a while with my buds, or stay married. I sure like the bike, the boat, the diving, and the comraderie!
Mossym - I'm going to be staying at my brother's house. He's been an EE since the invention of tubes, well not quite but close. He started with Philco in the 60's.
I'll keep an eye on the board and maybe we can get together for a dive or at least a beer.
Hey Mel, why not? I've been on both many times and always enjoyed it.
I'm curoius too. I've only been out on the M.E. once. It was nothing special, but nothing terrible either.
Unless you count the idiot divers who surfaced OOA about a mile away from the boat and flailed in the kelp until rescued. But that wasn't the dive op's fault...

ah come on..who parks a dive boat next to the kelp in Nor California..
I was thinking about getting on a charter boat this same weekend. Out of curiosity do most of these boats being mentioned know where they will be diving a month in advance or is generally dictated by weather/crowds etc. on the day of diving?
